FSSAI issues advisory for online FBOs
Hyderabad: The FSSAI issued an advisory to all e-commerce FBOs on Tuesday, stating that last-mile delivery personnel must be trained in food safety and hygiene practices, covering safe handling of transportation of food items.
Food and non-food items must be delivered separately to ensure cross-contamination. Product claims on ecommerce platforms must align with the physical labels, FSSAI said. All labels must be in accordance with the FSS (Labeling & Display) Regulations 2020.
To maintain consumer confidence, it was necessary to ensure that food products being delivered had sufficient shelf life. FSSAI mandated that products must have a minimum shelf life of 30 per cent or at least 45 days before expiry, at the time of delivery.
No ecommerce FBO shall list any food business operator on its platform without displaying their valid FSSAI licence or registration, it said.
