Hyderabad: Frustrated with delay in their recruitment, teacher aspirants in Gurukul schools on Wednesday staged a unique protest in front of the Pedamma temple. Denied permission to demonstrate in front of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's residence, the candidates resorted to 'begging for recruitment' at the temple, drawing attention to their plight.
Some even knelt down on road, holding placards. The aspirants have been demanding fair and transparent recruitment
processes. One of the primary grievances is the current non-implementation of a descending order appointment system from higher to lower posts, leading to multiple jobs being awarded to a single candidate. "We urge the government to fill posts in a descending order, from higher to lower (DL, JL, PGT, TGT), ensuring each candidate receives only one appointment," said
Ramalakshmi T, one of the aspirants at the protest.
Adding to their woes, the aspirants highlighted the need for the implementation of a relinquishment policy to prevent multiple job allocations to a single candidate. They also demanded that the government adhere to the High Court's directive to fill vacant posts promptly, following the merit list accurately.
Meanwhile, the All India Students' Federation (AISF) held a media conference addressing urgent issues faced by unemployed students. AISF State Assistant Secretary G Naresh, OU president Lenin, and secretary N Satya criticised the Congress party for not fulfilling its election promises, which included increasing Group 2 and Group 3 posts and organising a Mega DSC with 25,000
posts.
"Unemployed students were a huge chunk of Congress voters because of the promises made by the part, yet the issues remain unaddressed," said Naresh. The student leaders demanded immediate action, including the release of a white paper on job vacancies and a job calendar.
The government had issued notifications for only 11,000 DSC posts, falling short of the promised numbers for Group 2 and Group 3 posts. The aspirants' demands include increase and conduct of exams for Group 2 and Group 3 posts immediately, announcement of a mega DSC with 25,000 posts, providing a permanent solution to the issues of G.O No. 46 and G.O No. 317, implementing a re-enlistment system in Gurukul appointments and releasing a white paper on vacant government jobs in Telangana state and a job calendar.
The aspirants warned of intensified protests if these demands are not met. G.O 46 pertains to the reservation policy for job appointments and promotions within Telangana state. It mandates the allocation of job vacancies and promotions in government services based on reserved categories, ensuring representation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, while G.O 317 deals with the transfer and posting of government employees within the state. It outlines the guidelinesand procedures for the transfer process, aiming to ensure transparency and fairness in the relocation of government personnel across various departments and regions.
