Heavy rains affect normal life in Kerala, several areas flooded

Kochi: Heavy rains continue to batter many parts of Kerala, especially the Central districts. Heavy rains and gusty wind started from Tuesday morning are experienced in several parts of the state.
Several areas in Ernakulam, Kottayam and Alappuzha districts are inundated. Waterlogging is reported in Kochi city and suburban areas. Service roads in the city are mostly waterlogged. Kalamassery, Kakkanad areas witnessed waterlogging. Traffic congestion is being experienced on the Edappally-Aroor National Highway.

A big tree fell on a state road transport corporation bus in Fort Kochi. No casualties are reported. Parked vehicles were seen floating away in many waterlogged roads in Kochi.

Thiruvananthapuram also experienced heavy rain from early morning. Extensive damage due to waterlogging was reported in many houses in Vengaramoodu, Thempamoodu, Pullampara.
