Indian sailing enters new era with IM clinic
Hyderabad: The country's first international measurers (IM) clinic, a two-day event featuring 18 delegates, including one from Great Britain, which marked a new milestone for the Indian sailing community, concluded on a grand note at the EME Sailing Club, Hussainsagar lake, here on Sunday.
Held under the auspices of EME Sailing Association (EMESA) and spearheaded by Lt. Gen. Neeraj Varshney, VSM, Comdt MCEME, and Commodore of the association, it was the culmination of an exhaustive eight-month approval process initiated by World Sailing.
The clinic was conducted by chief instructor Diaz, who ensured that the training was in tune with the best of global standards.
Hosting the clinic was a monumental achievement for EMESA and for India as it demonstrated the commitment to foster international collaboration and enhance technical expertise in sailing, EMESA said in a statement.
Participants were introduced to the rigorous standards of international measurement, with an equal focus on both practical and theoretical training, it said.
Diaz emphasised the importance of precision and adherence to international guidelines in sailing measurements.
“The event has not only elevated our standards but also strengthened our ties with the global sailing community. This success shows India’s growing prominence in the world of sailing and sets a strong foundation for future international collaborations”, EMESA said, adding that ‘It marks a new era in India’s sailing achievements'
