Jagan resigns as CM, says YSRC will remain as voice of the voiceless
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy sent his resignation letter to AP Governor, Justice (rtd) S. Abdul Nazeer on Tuesday night. The Governor swiftly accepted the resignation and advised Jagan Mohan Reddy to continue in office till the formation of a new government.
Reacting to the humiliating defeat of the YSRC, Jagan Mohan Reddy said, "The results were surprising. We did a lot for people. We did well, but lost. Such results were not expected. Welfare fruits have reached women. What happened to their votes is not known.”
Addressing the people of Andhra Pradesh from his camp office, Jagan Mohan Reddy said his party will always be the “voice of the voiceless.” He promised to bounce back with the “same courage.”
“The election results are surprising to me — I did not expect such an outcome. We implemented Amma Vodi, benefiting 5.3 million students and took steps for a bright future. For five years, 6.6 million of the elderly and disabled individuals received monthly pensions at their doorsteps,” he said.
“Despite our efforts to support the elderly, it is surprising that we did not receive the mandate in return,” the outgoing CM said with a tinge of sadness.
He said, “We supported 1.5 lakh crore Self Help Groups through welfare schemes such as Aasara, Sunna Vaddi and Cheyutha. We brought revolutionary changes to government schools, enhancing infrastructure and quality of education. Farmers received top priority through Rythu Bharosa Kendras, giving them input subsidies at the end of the season, free insurance and free electricity for 9 hours during the day, to name a few.”
Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “We stood as a pillar of support for millions, pushing for self-employment through programmes like Vahana Mitra, Chedodu and Thodu. Our manifesto was considered a holy book, and we fulfilled 99 per cent of our poll promises. From ensuring English-medium instruction in all government schools to welcoming educational opportunities like TOEFL and IB, we have made significant strides.”
“We disbursed 2.7 lakh crore to the poor through DBT. Women's empowerment and development were central to our efforts in every sector.”
“Frauds and injustices were committed vis-a-vis the present polls, but there is no evidence to prove these. God knows what truly happened. There is nothing more I can do. Nonetheless, we remain committed to doing good to the people. The YSRC will always be the voice of the voiceless,” he stated.
The CM added, “No matter how hard the alliance parties tried, they couldn't destroy our 40 per cent vote bank. We will rise with the same courage in our hearts. Being in the Opposition is not new to me, nor is fighting battles. Throughout my political journey, except for these past five years, I have always been in the Opposition. I have fought battles and faced struggles. If more challenges come our way, we are ready to face them. I wish the new government all the best,” Jagan Mohan Reddy added.
