Hyderabad: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High Court directed the advocate who appeared for actor Jr NTR before the Debt Recovery Tribunal to file a personal affidavit giving details of the hearing before the Tribunal. The panel of Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar is hearing a writ plea from the film actor challenging an order by the Debt Recovery Tribunal regarding the attachment of his 681 square yard residential property in Banjara Hills, in the city. According to the petitioner, he bought the property in 2003 and cleared loans on the same taken by his vendor.
Earlier, when the revenue authorities in 2008 tried to attach the property in question, the district collector conducted an inquiry and closed the case. In the present litigation NTR (Jr) contended that six banks namely Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India, Orient Bank, Federal Bank, IndusInd Bank, Small Industries Development Bank of India committed fraud and obtained six independent attachment Orders on the same property. M.V. Durgaprasad, counsel for the petitioner, contended that it was impermissible under the law and that it was a scam perpetuated to the disadvantage of his client. He further stated that the Small Industries Development Bank of India moved the Tribunal for recovery and though his application for impleadment of banks was made, his petition challenging the attachment was dismissed without a hearing. The court required the counsel to submit an affidavit on this aspect of the matter.
