Karnataka CM hints shifting Darshan to Ballari Prison
Bengaluru: The police officials will take a call on to shift murder accused actor Darshan Tugudeep to Ballari Central Prison from his current stay at Parappana Agrahara Prison of Bengaluru, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Tuesday. Darshan is accused in the murder of a person and he has been remanded to judicial custody. He has been lodged in Parappana Agrahara since June this year.
The move to shift Darshan and his fellow accused from Parappana Agrahara is to avert the actor from having access to facilities. It may be recalled here the actor was caught on a photograph circulated on social networking sites on Sunday with a cigarette and a mug chatting with his friends identified as Wilson Garden Naga, a rowdy sheeter, his Manager Nagaraj and another identified as Lakshman.
Earlier, it was said Darshan would be moved to Hindalga Prison in Belagavi and the idea is said to have been dropped by officials concerned considering the security aspects. Taking note of the lapses on part of Prison officials and also violation of Prison Rules and Manual, Minister for Home Dr G Parameshwar on Monday placed 9 officials including Chief Superintendent of Prison, Superintendent of Prison among Jailor, Assistant Jailor, warders of the Parappana Agrahara Prison under suspension and investigation is underway.
A report from DG Prison on the incident has been sought by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to initiate further action in the case.
