Kharge dismissed allegations of a financial crunch in the government. He emphasised that no development work had been stalled due to a lack of funds.

Mangaluru: The Karnataka government will launch the 'Pragati Patha' scheme within a month to develop 7,110 km of rural roads at a cost of Rs 5,190 crore, Rural Development Minister Priyank Kharge said.

The initiative, distinct from the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), aims to boost rural connectivity.
Speaking at the 'Hombelaku' event at Sahyadri Campus in Adyar, Mangaluru, on Saturday, Kharge dismissed allegations of a financial crunch in the government. He emphasized that no development work had been stalled due to a lack of funds.
“Under the Kalyana Patha program on our side 1,150 km of roads will be improved at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore. This scheme will be officially launched next Saturday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha and AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge,” he said.
“A total of Rs 1,890 crore has been released for the repair of rural roads damaged due to natural calamities, with Rs 10 crore allocated per constituency across 189 constituencies. Work has already commenced in some areas,” he said.
The minister highlighted the success of the state's Arivu Kendras, which have registered 51 lakh students preparing for various competitive exams, including KAS Prelims.
Kharge also noted that under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), the department aims to generate 13 crore person-days of employment, benefiting 27 lakh families and 47 lakh individuals.
