Kharge Accuses Karnataka Governor of BJP Bias

Priyank Kharge criticises the Karnataka Governor's office, alleging it acts as BJP's regional office, and highlights BJP's internal strife

Kalaburagi: Alleging that Karnataka Governor's office has turned into a regional office of the BJP, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge said that the Raj Bhavan is being misused in those states where BJP is politically weak.

"The MUDA case is being politically motivated. The Governor's office has turned into a regional office of the BJP. Wherever the BJP is weak, the Raj Bhavan is being misused. What is happening in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Kerala? In Tamil Nadu, the Governor walks out of his own meeting, and in Kerala, the Governor even goes on a Satyagraha against the government—what does this mean?" he questioned while speaking to reporters in Kalaburagi on Tuesday.

Kharge accused the Governor of being a mere puppet.

"On July 5, the Governor addressed a letter to the Chief Minister, followed by another on the 15th. By the 26th, the government had responded with a detailed 100-page report. However, the very day TJ Abraham filed a complaint, the Governor issued a notice to the Chief Minister without even reviewing the government's detailed response. It is known to everyone that the complainant was fined by the Supreme Court in a case. If the Governor is listening to such individuals, it indicates that orders have come from above. The Governor is acting like a puppet. The Raj Bhavan is being misused," he alleged.

On the proposed padayatra against the Congress government from Kudalasangama to Ballari by a faction within the BJP, Kharge pointed at the BJP’s internal strife, branding it as “BJP versus BJP.”

Kharge highlighted the growing divide within the party, noting that Vijayendra and Ashoka's leadership faced opposition from another faction.

"If there were a march to Delhi against the injustices faced by Kannadigas, we would offer our support. But the BJP leaders remain silent, lacking the courage to speak to Modi," he said.

Addressing the recent incident where a gate of the Tungabhadra Dam was washed away, Kharge reassured that the Karnataka government is taking swift and decisive action.

He emphasized that the first crop season would remain unaffected and stressed efforts to prevent any disruption in the second crop season. A survey for the construction of a parallel bridge to the Tungabhadra Dam is also underway.

He noted that, with dams in Maharashtra filling up, the Kalaburagi district administration is actively preparing for potential flood risks, engaging with state disaster management officials to ensure all necessary precautions are in place.
