Main Accused in Jagan's Stone-Pelting Case Granted Bail
Vijayawada: A metropolitan magistrate court, which granted conditional bail to Vemula Satish Kumar, the main accused in the stone-pelting case of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been enlarged on bail from the Central Prison in Nellore on Sunday.
He denied his role in the stone-pelting attack on the Chief Minister on April 13. He said, “I returned from the labour work on the evening on April 13 and when I was promised ₹ 300 to stand holding the YSRC flag, I did so. Later, I celebrated my birthday on April 14 by cutting the cake and bursting crackers.”
“Later, police picked me up and took me all around in their vehicle and even forced me to confess the crime at gunpoint. The police even promised to give ₹ 2 lakh if I obey them,” he said.
Satish Kumar’s lawyer Abdus Saleem said that Satish was not there on the spot where the police were alleging that the stone was pelted from a place near the school.
It may be mentioned that when Jagan had taken up a roadshow standing atop a bus greeting the people, he was hit by a stone causing an injury above his left eye on April 13. The police booked a case against Satish and arrested him on April 18.
