Major General Flags Off TA’s Siachen-to-Andaman Cycling Expedition

Major General Rakesh Manocha launched the Telugu states' leg of the Territorial Army’s cycling expedition from Siachen to Andaman

Hyderabad: Major General Rakesh Manocha, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Telangana and Andhra Sub Area (TASA), on Friday flagged off the Telugu states’ leg of the Territorial Army’s Siachen-to-Andaman cycling-and-scuba expedition, on Friday. The team will cycle about 700 km in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, before reaching Chennai.

The expedition will pass through Kondamallipalli, Macherla, Venukonda, Kanigiri, and Sullurupeta. MLAs, government officials and students are expected to greet the cyclist.

The Territorial Army (TA), which is celebrating its 75th anniversary, is holding the cycle expedition from the Siachen base camp, the highest battlefield in the world, in Ladakh to Indira Point, the southern most tip of India, in the Andaman & Nicobar islands. The expedition commenced on July 30.

The team, consisting of 21 participants, including two officers, three Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and 16 other ranks, has passed through Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra before reaching Secunderabad.
