Minister Urges Mega Skill Centre for Kalyana Karnataka Youth

Minister Eshwar B Khandre requests a mega skill development centre in Kalyana Karnataka to tackle economic challenges and boost youth employment

Bidar: Forest, Ecology, and Environment Minister Eshwar B Khandre has urged the Chief Minister to establish a mega skill development center in the Kalyana Karnataka (Hyderabad Karnataka) region to address the region's economic, social, and educational challenges by providing employment opportunities for the youth.

At a progress review meeting of the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB), chaired by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Khandre stressed the necessity of equipping the youth in Kalyana Karnataka for private sector jobs. He requested that the mega skill development center be situated in one of the district headquarters of the region.

He said that Kalyana Karnataka enjoys special status under the 371(j) constitutional amendment, with a government order stating that prior approval from the finance department is not required for appointing vacant posts in the region. However, files are still being sent for approval, causing delays. Minister Khandre requested the Chief Minister to issue clear directives to expedite the process, to which the Chief Minister responded positively.

Khandre stressed the need for a separate industrial policy for the Kalyana Karnataka region, which currently lags due to a lack of industries, raw materials, and natural resources.

He called for the immediate filling of 6,639 vacant teaching positions in the region.

In his capacity as Bidar district in-charge minister, Khandre also requested the establishment of a government women's degree college in each of the seven district headquarters, highlighting the need to prioritize women's education in Kalyana Karnataka.

Khandre highlighted the recent cessation of civil flights to Bidar city and urged the government to take immediate steps to resume civil aviation services to Bidar.
