MP: Plant a tree, get a ‘selfie with me’, offers MP’s woman mantri for environment protection
Bhopal: A woman member in the Mohan Yadav ministry on Monday took an innovative initiative to protect the environment by offering people an individual selfie with her if they plant a tree.
Minister of state (independent charge) for welfare of OBC and minorities Krishna Gaur unveiled her plan for increasing green cover in the state by encouraging people to plant trees with her ‘selfie offer’.
“Plant a tree and get a selfie with me”, she offered.
Fifty five-year-old Ms Gaur, daughter in-law of former chief minister Babulal Gaur, however made it a point that those keen to take selfies with her should post the photograph of planting trees by them on social media as evidence.
“I am very much concerned about climate change and want people to plant trees to protect the environment. The ‘selfie idea’ struck me when I noticed that people who meet me (for their work) are keen to take selfies with me also”, she said.
A close aide of the minister said that no less than 500 people who meet her for their work daily request a selfie with her and she always obliges.
She thought that the selfie seekers can be used for voluntary tree plantation which will also help promote awareness of the environment on social media when they post their photographs of planting the trees on them, he said.
Ms Gaur who inherited the political legacy of her late father in-law by representing the latter’s Assembly constituency of Govindpura in Bhopal district is known to be an avid green lover.
