Nalgonda Hills to Get Tourism Boost with ₹114 Crore Plan
The DPR entails the development of ghat roads, eco-tourism parks, and a ropeway to enhance tourism and green spaces.
Nalgonda: Authorities are planning to enhance tourism at three hills in Nalgonda town. Officials have prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) with a budget of ₹114 crore for constructing ghat roads to Latheef Saheb and Brahmamgari Hills located in the heart of the town.
The BRS government had previously planned to develop an eco-tourism park at Latheef Sahed Hill but did not take any action in this direction during its 10-year tenure.
Latheef Sahed Darha is situated atop Latheef Sahed Hill, while the Veerbrahmendra Swamy temple is located on Brahmamgari Hill. Officials expect that the construction of ghat roads will increase the influx of devotees and nature lovers to these religious sites. Additionally, the forest department has decided to establish an eco-tourism park at Annaram Hill on Mushampally Road within the Nalgonda municipality. The eco-tourism park will also feature a children’s play area and a walking track.
Initiated by the minister for roads and buildings, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, the state government has submitted a proposal to the Centre for developing infrastructure at these hills under the Bharatmala Project.
Palagudu Sai Kumar, a local resident, mentioned that most parks in the colonies lack greenery and remain as open spaces. He added that the three hills boast lush greenery and trees, giving them a forest-like appearance. However, reaching the tops is currently risky due to the absence of ghat roads. He believes that the state government's decision to lay ghat roads will create green spaces within the city.
Nalgonda municipal chairman Burri Srinivas Reddy said that efforts will be made to develop parks in the town. Further, new projects will be undertaken to promote tourism in Nalgonda.
Historic temples, Chaya Someshwaralam and Patchala Someshwaralayam, dating back to the Kakatiya rulers, are located 3 km from Nalgonda town. Authorities are also examining the feasibility of constructing a ropeway on one of the hills to further support tourism development.
