New Andhra Pradesh sand policy benefits unorganised sector: TD leaders
Kurnool: Telugu Desam leaders on Sunday asserted that the sand policy being implemented in the state is benefitting the unorganised sector. They pointed out that people are now allowed to take sand by tractor paying only Rs 335 per tonne. Further, an opportunity has been provided to collect sand from streams and canals as needed.
Speaking to media on Sunday, MP Bastipati Nagaraju, party state general secretary Somisetty Venkateswarlu, and parliamentary segment president Palakurthi Thikkareddy underlined that the previous government transported sand to Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, ignoring the local requirements.
The leaders emphasized that the free sand policy, which benefits many people, will have a significant positive impact.
They accused the previous government's supporters of indiscriminately extracting sand from both streams and rivers across the state, amassing lakhs of crores. Their activities turned rivers in the state into deserts, leaving lakhs of construction workers and unorganised laborers jobless.
The leaders maintained that the situation has now been addressed with the alliance government coming into power in the state.
