A third hostel for tribal pregnant women opens in Seethampeta, aiming to reduce infant and maternal mortality in Parvathipuram
Visakhapatnam: A third pregnant women hostel, Giri Shikara Garbhinila Vasathi Gruham, opened in Seethampeta, Parvathipuram Manyam district, on Friday.
This brings the total to three in the Parvathipuram ITDA area, established in 2018 to provide care for tribal pregnant women, especially those at high risk or from remote villages.
The hostels aim to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates by providing proper nutrition, medication, and medical supervision. A fourth hostel is planned for Parvathipuram.
District collector A. Shyam Prasad inaugurated the new hostel, noting the importance of maternal health protection.
He mentioned that the two existing hostels have facilitated over 300 safe institutional deliveries.
