NIA Nabs Key Hizb-ut-Tahrir Suspect at Bengaluru Airport

NIA arrests Aziz Ahmed at Bengaluru Airport for links to Hizb-ut-Tahrir, accused of radicalising youth for Islamic caliphate

Bengaluru: One of chief initiators in conducting secret Bayaans (oration) attached Hizb-ut-Tahrir, an international pan-Islamist and fundamental organization, Aziz Ahamed alias Aziz Ahmed was nabbed by the sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Kempe Gowda International Airport near Bengaluru city on Friday while he was about the fled the country. Investigations are underway.

A press release from NIA on Saturday stated Aziz Ahmed is a key suspect in attempts to radicalize youths and establish Islamic caliphate in the country. He was wanted in connection with Hizb-ut-Tahrir in Tamil Nadu.

NIA had registered a case against six accused including Aziz Ahmed in 2024 and the accused along with his associates influenced by extremist, radical and fundamental ideology of Hizb-ut-Tahrir with its main aim is to enforce the Constitution written by its founder Taqi al-Din al-Nabhani.

According to NIA’s preliminary investigations, the key accused is said to have conducted several preaching where many participants’ especially gullible youths were radicalized with ideologies of Hizb-ut-Tahrir which seeks military assistance from forces inimical to India.
