Odisha Govt. Optimistic About Investment Surge After Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Event
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is optimistic about a significant surge in investments, following its successful engagement with investors during the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conclave. The event, aimed at connecting with the Indian diaspora, provided a platform for appealing to those eager to contribute to both India and specifically to Odisha's growth.
Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister, KV Singh Deo, on Saturday expressed confidence in the state’s potential to attract more investments, underscoring the importance of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas conclave as a key opportunity to showcase the state's investment landscape.
He pointed out a shift in investment trends, saying, “In the past, the BJD (Biju Janata Dal) administration focused on attracting investments from overseas and other states. Today, however, we are seeing investors willing to come directly to Odisha.”
The Deputy CM also raised concerns about the outcomes of past initiatives, questioning how many of the Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed earlier during the previous Biju Janata Dal government actually translated into tangible projects.
“There is a growing interest from non-resident Indians (NRIs), and several MOUs are expected to be signed during the upcoming Utkarsh Odisha Conclave. This will help further solidify the commitment to boosting investment in the region,” he added.
