Hyderabad: Senior Congress leader and adviser to the Telangana government Mohammed Ali Shabbir demanded the government to cancel the allotment of 11 acres of prime land in Kokapet to BRS party at throwaway prices in May 2023. He said the Congress government should take back the land parcel, auction it and use its proceeds for crop loan waiver and Rythu Bharosa schemes.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Shabbir Ali raised serious concerns about the allocation of prime land and stated that the KCR government had allocated 11 acres of prime land worth Rs 1,100 crore to the BRS for just Rs 37 crore. He also pointed out that prime lands were also allotted for BRS offices in district headquarters. He demanded cancellation of all such allocations.
Meanwhile, he launched a scathing attack against BRS for its stance on political defections. He accused BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao of introducing the culture of defections in the state and continued the trend till December 2023. He asserted that over the past decade, Rao orchestrated the defection of 59 elected representatives, fundamentally altering the political landscape in Telangana.
He recalled that when Congress and TDP MLAs joined BRS, Rao had justified it by claiming that they were joining the ruling party to develop their constituencies and Telangana. However, now that BRS members are joining Congress, the same logic is not being applied.
Ali claimed that 30of 39 BRS MLAs are ready to switch to Congress, predicting a significant weakening of BRS, which might lose its status as the main opposition party in the coming days. He said that, except for KCR's family members, no one would remain in the BRS.
