Hyderabad: Former Special Intelligence Bureau (SIB) chief T Prabhakar Rao, one of the accused in the phone tapping case, would not come to India as per their earlier plan to travel to India from the USA and allegedly rescheduled his travel plan based on medical reports.
According to the travel schedule of Prabhakar Rao, flight tickets were booked for Prabhakar Rao and his wife on February 15, 2024 and Rao left for the USA as he developed sudden symptoms of difficulty in swallowing and giddiness. His return journey was supposed to be booked for June 2, 2024.
However, Rao, who already filed a petition before the court
seeking rejection of the police warrant, is understood to have rescheduled his travel plans to India and is likely to send an email communication to the Investigation officer (IO) in the phone tapping case.
It was also reported that Prabhakar Rao's son T Nishanth Rao who was contacted by the Investigation Officer (IO) has provided all the details of Prabhakar's travel to USA and the reasons for his visit to USA.
According to sources, the Investigating Officer served notices under 91 of CrPC on the son of Prabhakar on April 19, 2024 and April 24, 2024 seeking furnishing of certain information and documents which were promptly replied by giving necessary information and documents.
On March 22, 2024 and March 23, 2024, Rao contacted the IO Venkatagiri ACP Jubilee Hills, DCP West Zone on March 23, 2024) and Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad March 23,
2024) via phone and clearly informed them that Prabhakar Rao will fully cooperate with investigation and requested them not to harass his son T Nishanth Rao and other family members as they are in no way connected with his official work.
Meanwhile, the Nampoally court reserved the verdict on the bail plea filed by the accused in the phone tapping case. The accused, N Bhujanga Rao, and Tirupatanna filed bail pleas before the court stating that the police filed default charge sheet before the court and pleaded the court to consider their bail pleas.
The police stated that they filed a charge sheet before the court a few days ago and the charge sheet was returned for corrections. The police objected to the bail plea for the accused. The court heard arguments that reserved the verdict for Thursday.
