Rane said the party should be banned like PFI
Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Nitesh Rane kicked up a political controversy by branding the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) terrorist organisation. There is no difference between Osama bin Laden and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi.
Rane made the statement following a AIMIM corporator, Mateen Majid Patel, facing accusations of sheltering Nida Khan, main accused in the Nashik TCS religious conversion and sexual harassment case.
By drawing a comparison between Laden and Owaisi, Rane triggered a debate on the productive work of the AIMIM.
The work earlier carried out by Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaeda is now being done by Owaisi's AIMIM.
Rane also questioned the significant work done by AIMIM in the constituencies represented by the party. The AIMIM manifesto has only one agenda: wage Jihad. He felt that just as the PFI was banned, AIMIM should also be banned.
Nida Khan was produced before a Nashik court on Friday after her anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the court.
