AP Govt removes Jagan’s images from survey stones
Andhra Pradesh govt erases YS Jagan’s images from land survey stones and launches resurvey in Kakinada, East Godavari

Kakinada: The state government is expediting the process of erasing the pictures of former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy from land survey stones, and conducting a resurvey of agriculture fields on a pilot-project basis.
The survey stones were placed during the YSRC rule, with a picture of Jagan Reddy printed on these, which marked the boundaries of agriculture fields in the rural areas after a re-survey. The Naidu government recently employed contractors to erase the pictures of Jagan Reddy as also the inscription, Jagan’s Bhu Suraksha, on the stones.
The contractors are paid Rs 15 per stone for this work. In Kakinada District, 3 lakh stones have to undergo this process in the coming weeks. While the contractors have been given a month’s time, they are able to complete the process with only 70 to 80 stones per day. Many of the lands in the district are wetlands and the wages are also high at Rs 1,000 per day per person.
In East Godavari district, 2.04 lakh stones have to be rid of the Jagan photo and inscription, out of which work on more than 73,000 stones were completed.
The resurvey works have also started in Kakinada and East Godavari districts. The officials chose one village in each mandal to conduct the resurvey as a pilot project.
Every parcel of land has to be resurveyed. The official land maps will be released after taking complaints from the farmers and sorting these out, officials said.
In Kakinada district, resurvey is being done in 15 villages. The district administration deployed nearly 300 employees -- 240 village surveyors, 103 village revenue officers, 15 land survey deputy tahsildars, 15 mandal tahsildars etc. The land survey can be completed within 3 months.
In East Godavari district, 16 villages have been chosen for land resurvey. Officials said the survey would be conducted in a transparent manner. Officials will serve notices to all the farmers a few days before the survey. After the resurvey, the remaining agriculture fields in other villages will be taken up for the same process.
