Congress warns leaders over open remarks
Bengaluru: The Congress high command has been taking a closer look at the open statements made by some Ministers over the change of Chief Minister in violation of party’s direction and the party will act against such leaders in coming days, said Working president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Manjunath Bhandary.
Apart from monitoring the statements of leaders/ministers, he said, the performance of Ministers has come into question from Congress party high command and sought a report card from them since they took charge of office in May 2023.
Some Ministers close to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah such as Minister of Public Works Satish Jarkiholi, Minister of Social Welfare Dr H.C. Mahadevappa and R.B. Thimmapur among others have made public statements on party matters.
Observing the developments in Congress party, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders in Karnataka stated Siddaramaiah unwilling to quit the Chief Minister's chair is playing politics through his close associates.
“The Congress high command is of the view that those leaders violating party directions are not disciplined soldiers,” he said. Bhandary, in a statement, stated the Congress high command is monitoring the statements made by leaders especially by Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi, Minister of Social Welfare Dr H.C. Mahadevappa and Minister of Excise R.B. Thimmapur.
Some Ministers in the Government, Bhandary stated, have been issuing open statements over change of Chief Minister leading to confusion among the party workers and the people. He told Deccan Chronicle open statements made by leaders/ministers in violation of party’s direction have been brought to the notice of the party high command.
As per the high command’s direction, Bhandary said, details such as whether a particular Minister made visits to party offices during their district tours, have the Ministers involved in strengthening the party, are Ministers joining hands with the State Government in reaching the schemes to the people, have Ministers made notable contributions in their respective departments among other details, which are crucial to assess their performances.
Asked over a notice served to him by the party for his open statement, Minister of Public Works Satish Jarkiholi told reporters he will reply to the notice.
