Jagan Congratulates Naidu After Surprising Assembly Poll Results

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy congratulates TDP's N. Chandrababu Naidu on victory as YSR Congress suffers major defeat amid strong anti-incumbency sentiment

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy congratulated Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N. Chandrababu Naidu for his victory in the recently concluded polls.

Despite winning from the Pulivendula assembly segment, Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was routed by the opposition, led by the TDP, ringing in a political shift. The strong anti-incumbency sentiment and a united opposition effort led to the transfer of power to the TDP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Additionally, Naidu's arrest in a corruption case in September last year, played a crucial role in shaping the election narrative.

Jagan's welfare measures, executed through direct benefit transfer (DBT), had created a disconnect between the public and the party cadre. Unfulfilled promises, such as the liquor ban and the release of the annual job calendar, also contributed to youth disenchantment.

TDP's "Super Six" strategy, which included a Rs 1,500 monthly pension for women aged 19 to 59, 20 lakh jobs for youth or Rs 3,000 monthly unemployment aid, and free bus travel for women resonated with voters.
