Karimnagar mayor, 2 corporators, BRS leaders join BJP
Karimnagar Mayor Y. Sunil Rao and others join BJP. Bandi Sanjay criticises BRS, highlighting BJP’s development focus

Karimnagar: Karimnagar mayor Y. Sunil Rao and corporators Swapna and Sridevi, officially joined the BJP on Saturday. Hundreds of BRS leaders also switched allegiance during a programme held at a private function hall in Karimnagar in the presence of Union minister of state for home affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
Welcoming the new members, Bandi Sanjay praised their decision to trust the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and align with the BJP’s principles.
During his speech, the minister launched a scathing attack on the previous BRS government, accusing it of hindering Karimnagar’s development despite funds provided by the Central government. Highlighting the BJP’s contribution to local progress, he referred to the recent visit by Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar as an example of the party’s commitment to the region.
He also criticised the BRS government for corruption and illegal activities, alleging involvement in scandals such as phone-tapping, the Kaleshwaram project, drug cases, and farmhouse controversies.
Drawing parallels between the Congress and BRS, Bandi Sanjay claimed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is following the guidance of BRS chief. He questioned why the Congress has not taken action against BRS leaders, specifically pointing to the lack of arrest of K.T. Rama Rao in the Formula-E car race case despite "sufficient evidence."
Bandi Sanjay criticised the Congress government for failing to address critical issues, including delays in fee reimbursements, pending medical bills under Aarogyasri, and the alarming number of suicides by former village sarpanches due to non-payment of bills.
He further alleged mismanagement in welfare schemes, particularly under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He stated that if the houses sanctioned under the Central scheme were to be renamed as ‘Indiramma Houses,’ none would be approved. He demanded that both the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s photos be included on new ration cards, warning that the Central government may directly take over rice distribution if the state fails to comply.
The minister also challenged the state government to provide transparency regarding the investments and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed since 2014, questioning the outcomes of the much-publicised Davos investments. He called on the state to disclose details of total investments, jobs promised, and their actual realisation, accusing the government of misleading the public with inflated claims.
Bandi Sanjay concluded by urging the people of Telangana to hold the state government accountable for its failures in delivering on its promises and ensuring real development.
