Kerala CPM Slams Congress, Media Over False Claims

Kerala CPM Secretary M. V. Govindan condemns Congress and media for fabricating stories against the Chief Minister and government

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM State Secretary M. V. Govindan stated on Friday that the opposition Congress and a section of the media are targeting the Chief Minister and the government by fabricating false stories.

At a press conference, Govindan stated that the opposition, with support from a section of the media, has launched a well-orchestrated propaganda campaign to undermine the government and the party. "Such fabricated stories will not succeed in destroying us. We will robustly counter these deliberate campaigns," he declared.

The CPM secretary said the party leadership had examined the complaint submitted by ruling front MLA Anvar. Since the allegations pertain to the functioning of government departments, they need to be examined at that level.

He said the government had already constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by the DGP which is probing the matter. It is expected to submit the report within a month. Should any individual be found culpable of misconduct, they will face severe action.

Additionally, the government recently suspended the police chief of Pathanamthitta district.

Govindan stated that the media, which had previously depicted Anvar as a major anti-social figure, is now directing its scrutiny towards the chief minister and the government, utilizing his statements. He mentioned that the opposition is fervently crafting false narratives in an attempt to thrust the government into turmoil.

Furthermore, Govindan noted that KPCC president K Sudhakaran openly threatened on Thursday to confront police officers both publicly and in their hometowns, a clear challenge to the rule of law, yet the media overlooked the incendiary nature of such declarations.

He criticized the opposition leader V D Satheeshan, accusing him of fabricating false stories against the chief minister and the government. He dismissed the claim that the chief minister had assigned a senior police officer to negotiate with an RSS leader as unfounded.

He said the CPM has been the target of RSS attacks. Numerous CPM workers have been killed in Sangh Parivar's attacks, and we have responded both ideologically and politically by rallying the people," he stated.
