YSRC Leaders Strategise for MLC Elections Amid Defections

YSRC leaders Kurasala Kannababu and Botsa Satyanarayana plan MLC election strategy amid recent defections to NDA alliance

Visakhapatnam: Former ministers Kurasala Kannababu and Botsa Satyanarayana held a meeting with the GVMC corporators, ZPTCs, MPTCs and senior leaders of the YSRC and discussed the strategy for the ensuing MLC elections that are scheduled to be held on August 30.

The meeting held in close doors at a hotel on Saturday has assumed importance as 12 corporators of the party had voted for the NDA alliance in the recently held standing committee elections of the GVMC.

“If you want to quit, do so now. Don’t vote for NDA alliance sporting party scarf and bring bad name to the party the way few did in the standing committee elections,’’ Kannababu told the corporators.

Exuding confidence, Kannababu said the YSRC would win the MLC polls as they have three-fourth strength. Total votes are 823 and the YSRC has a strength of 615 votes. Satyanarayana said the NDA alliance hatched a conspiracy and tried to buy the voters. This might not happen now the way standing committee polls went out of hands. “Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and myself have requested all the members to cast votes in favour of the party candidate,’’ Satyanarayana said and announced that he would file his nomination on August 12.

In a strategic move, the party has packed off 250 voters to Bengaluru to preserve the strength.
