Poll violence: 129 people in NTR dist under radar, 1 expelled
Vijayawada: Police have identified the role of 129 people for disturbing the law and order situation in NTR district during the 2024 general elections. This includes opening 'rowdy sheets' against 23 people and 'suspects sheets' against 103 people.
The Preventive Detention (PD) Act was also opened against two individuals. Further, one individual with criminal history has been expelled from the NTR district commissionerate limits for violence on May 13.
Commissioner of police, NTR district, P.H.D. Ramakrishna said around 33 'trouble mongers' were bound over in front of the mandal executive magistrate.
The police commissioner said the department conducted flag, route and foot marches in 19 locations and counselled the suspects.
The department seized 62 motorbikes and three three-wheelers found without proper documents during the cordon and search operations conducted at YSR Colony Reddy Gudem, Tiruvuru, among other locations on May 24 and May 23.
During the raids, the police cordoned off 950 houses, took the iris photos of 76 suspects and identified five individuals who had criminal cases in these areas.
