Rains batters city; 2-year-old boy dies after roof collapses
Hyderabad: A couple of days after a rain-battered wall collapse killed two children, tragedy struck another family after a boulder slid from Alabanda Hills and fell on their tin-roof in Mangalhat causing the death of a two-year-old boy, Farhan Ali, and injuring two of his brothers and an elder sister in the early hours of Wednesday from a rain-related incident.
According to Mangalhat SI Mohammed Jaffar, Farhan Ali died on the spot and his brothers and sister have been admitted in the ICU ward at Niloufer hospital. Family members of Farhan Ali performed his last rites in Mangalhat Wednesday evening
Meanwhile, the city was left choking from heavy overnight rains that continued into Wednesday. Not only was life thrown out of gear but there were instances of wall collapses and heavy water clogging on roads leading to traffic chaos, all over.
The worst affected areas were Ameerpet, Masab tank, Hyderguda, Basheerbagg, Kukatpally, Hi-tec city, Jubilee Hills, Nampally, Begumpet, Charminr to Goshamahal, Saroornagar and LB nagar.
Meanwhile, videos of traffic congestion at Gachibowli, Madhapur, Tolichowki and Jubilee hills went viral across social media platforms.
Traffic police and officials from other departments swung into action and cleared the clogging to partially restore traffic movement.
Although the rain was seen as an early monsoon setting in, officials from India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there was more time for the monsoon to enter the state.
According to senior official K. Nagaratna “There will be moderate rains till Saturday. People need to watch the weather conditions before venturing out.”
