Karimnagar: District collector B. Satya Prasad has suspended V. Madhavi Latha, principal of Peddapur Gurukul Residential School after two students were bitten by snakes. The injured students are being treated at hospital.
An inquiry by Metpalli revenue divisional officer N. Srinivas revealed that principal Latha failed to report the incidents to district authorities or the Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGREIS) and neglected sanitation and hygiene at the school.
After reviewing the report, collector Prasad suspended Latha. In response, concerned parents tried to forcibly remove their children from the school, leading to clashes as the administration locked the gates.
Protesting parents staged a demonstration outside the school, accusing the administration of inadequate safety measures despite previous incidents. They demanded a written explanation and assurances of their children's safety, threatening to withdraw their children from the school until their concerns are addressed.
