Siddaramaiah launches Bengaluru’s KWIN City project
Bengaluru: The State Government’s ambitious new city project with focus on knowledge, wellness and innovation (KWIN) was launched by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru on Thursday. The first phase of the project will span 500 acres near satellite town ring road between Dabaspet and Doddaballapur about 50-km from Bengaluru city.
The KWIN project by the State Government envisages to elevate Bengaluru’s status on the global scene. The KWIN will host campuses of globally renowned educational and medical institutions, research centres and healthcare facilities, fostering partnerships with leading organisations, said Minister of Heavy Industries and Infrastructure Development M.B. Patil.
“The city will prioritise startups, biosciences and semiconductors with the potential to generate approximately one lakh employment,” the Minister said.
After launching the KWIN City project, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah exuded confidence that KWIN City will be a game-changer not only for Karnataka but for the country. The KWIN City will serve as a model for other States to emulate, showcasing the power of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable development and economic growth.
“The KWIN City is a one-of-its-kind project that will integrate knowledge, healthcare, innovation and research at its core,” stated the Chief Minister.
Siddaramaiah said the KWIN City will ensure that Karnataka remains at the forefront of the country’s knowledge economy and continue to attract global investments, partnerships and talent.
“The launch of KWIN City marks a significant milestone in Karnataka’s journey towards becoming a global leader in innovation and research,” said the CM continuing “It will only bolster Karnataka’s position as a hub for public-private partnerships but also contribute significantly to the State’s GDP.
While Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru city incharge minister D.K. Shivakumar assured to take KWIN City project on par with the GIFT City project of Gujarat.
“During our visit to New Delhi, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and I appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to grant a GIFT city for Karnataka. It was rejected stating that there could be only one GIFT city in the country. We will take KWIN City to that level and showcase,” stated the Minister in charge of Bengaluru city.
“Let’s take the reputation of Karnataka to newer heights and the KWIN city project is an attempt of the State Government to tell the industry that the Government is with them,” he said.
