Kurnool: The Srisailam reservoir is facing a surge in water levels due to heavy rainfall in the upstream regions. As of Wednesday, the reservoir's water level reached 885 feet, nearing its full capacity of 889 feet.
To manage the increased inflow, authorities have been releasing water downstream through three crest gates at a rate of 1.03 lakh cusecs.
Simultaneously, 68,999 cusecs of water are being diverted to the Nagarjunasagar reservoir.
The current inflow into Srisailam stands at 1.47 lakh cusecs, primarily from upstream areas.
Additionally, the Sunkesula reservoir is contributing 1.98 lakh cusecs, and another 2,280 cusecs of floodwater is entering from the upper catchment areas of the Jurala project.
Both the right and left bank hydropower stations at Srisailam are currently generating power, utilising the abundant water flow. The reservoir's current storage capacity is 215.81 TMC.
