Suspicious Crash Claims Two BJP Leaders; Murder Plot Suspected

Bhubaneswar: A tragic road accident on the Kantapali overbridge in Bargarh claimed the lives of two Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, raising concerns about a possible premeditated attack. The incident occurred when a fly-ash-laden truck repeatedly rammed into a car carrying Debendra Nayak, BJP Goshala Mandal president, and former sarpanch Muralidhar Chhuria.

The two leaders were traveling from Bhubaneswar to their village when the truck struck their vehicle multiple times. Nayak and Chhuria died on the spot, while two other passengers sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at a private hospital in Burla.
Suresh Sundar, one of the survivors, recounted the harrowing ordeal, alleging that the truck driver deliberately targeted their vehicle.
“Initially, we thought it was an accident, but the truck hit us again. We jumped out to save ourselves, yet the truck chased us and tried to run us over,” Sundar said.

The families of the deceased echoed similar suspicions, calling it a "deliberate murder plot." Nayak’s son demanded a thorough investigation, citing the truck’s repeated attempts to hit the car as evidence of malicious intent.
Local Burla police intercepted the truck and detained the driver. BJP officials have called for a comprehensive investigation, insisting on justice for the victims.
Separate Incident in Bolangir

In a separate crash near Bolangir’s Town Police Station, a young woman lost her life, and two others were critically injured when a truck collided with their bike. The victims were returning from a festival. The injured were rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital, while the truck driver fled the scene. Police are conducting a search for the driver.

Both incidents have sparked demands for road safety measures and swift legal action.
