Telangana Govt. to Launch Four Welfare Schemes

Under Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa, landless agricultural workers will receive financial assistance of ₹12,000 annually, while the Rythu Bharosa scheme will provide farmers ₹12,000 per acre per year. Additionally, the issuance of new ration cards, which had been stalled during the BRS tenure, will begin on the same day.

Khammam: Revenue and housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced on Saturday that the state government will launch four new welfare schemes — Indiramma Atmeeya Bharosa, Rythu Bharosa, Indiramma Houses, and issuance of new ration cards — on January 28.

During a ceremony at Mallemadugu in Khammam Urban Mandal, the minister, along with district collector Muzammil Khan, distributed pattas for 80 double-bedroom houses to selected families. Speaking at the event, the minister reiterated the Congress government’s commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people of Telangana.

He highlighted that the government, in its first year, focused on rectifying administrative lapses left by the previous BRS administration's decade-long rule. Criticising the BRS government for allegedly neglecting the housing needs of the poor, he claimed it had diluted the double-bedroom housing scheme. He added that the Congress government has prioritised completing pending housing projects initiated during the BRS regime and has allocated the houses to the poorest families.

Outlining the upcoming welfare schemes, Reddy said that the Indiramma Houses Scheme would enable the construction of new homes for eligible families, with the application survey nearing completion.

Ponguleti Reddy emphasised the role of Indiramma Committees, established at the gram panchayat level, in ensuring transparency in beneficiary selection. These committees will scrutinise applications through gram sabhas and recommend eligible candidates for welfare benefits.

He concluded by assuring the public that the Congress government is dedicated to addressing the needs of the poor and ensuring that welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries effectively and transparently.
