Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has directed the State Higher Education Department, Osmania University represented by the Lawcet convener, and the Bar Council of India to file counters regarding the delay in commencing the academic calendar for LLB and LLM courses in Telangana.
The High Court was addressing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by advocate A. Bhaskar Reddy. He complained that the academic year for law courses in Telangana typically starts in October or November, which is unusual and causes a delay in the academic year. He requested the court to instruct the authorities to begin the law courses in July. He also mentioned that Lawcet is conducted in the first week of June every year, with results announced shortly after the exams, but the authorities issue the notification for counselling very late.
The court has directed the authorities to file their counters.
