Telangana Minister Sridhar Babu demands CBI probe into NEET exam

Hyderabad: IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu demanded a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG exam to restore confidence in the examination system. Speaking at the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) office on Thursday, Sridhar Babu was worried about the conduct and results of the NEET exam, urging the Centre to address issues promptly. He spoke about the need for accountability and transparency in the examination process.

"Many students have faced unfair treatment both during the NEET exam and in the declaration of results. The results, which were supposed to be released on June 14, were unexpectedly published on June 4, raising suspicions," Sridhar Babu said.

He demanded action against officials responsible for the irregularities. "Concerns have been raised nationwide, particularly in medical education, about the conduct of competitive exams. The fact that 63 students received the same rank further fuelled doubts about the examination's integrity. Doubts also surround the allocation of grace marks," he added.

Sridhar Babu criticised the NDA government, alleging it has failed to manage the NEET examination process. He urged the Centre to take immediate action to instill confidence in the NEET process.

In a separate matter, Sridhar Babu advocated for establishing new coal mines through the government-owned Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) rather than private companies. He criticised Union coal minister G. Kishan Reddy for his contradictory stance, accusing him of promoting privatisation while publicly opposing it. He urged Kishan Reddy to reconsider the decision, adding that public sector organisations should handle coal mining operations.

Sridhar Babu also announced that the Congress government will soon release a job calendar and resolve issues concerning GO 46. He assured that the recruitment process is being handled carefully to avoid legal complications.
