Telangana Tourism Minister Orders Facelift of Green Resort

Tourism Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao demands immediate improvements at Haritha Taramati Baradari Resort, emphasising better facilities and increased revenue
Hyderabad: Tourism minister Jupalli Krishna Rao on Friday expressed dissatisfaction over the poor maintenance of resorts in the state.

After an inspection of the Harita Taramati Baradari Resort, the minister directed tourism officials to take immediate measures to attract tourists to the green resort and make it a good source of income for the state government.

The tourism minister along with department officials inspected hotel rooms, restaurant, the Pushpanjali amphitheatre, auditorium, swimming pool and the toilets at the Haritha resort.

Expressing concern over the poor management of the green resort, Krishna Rao directed officials to take up repair work of potholes near the entrance, remove the garbage and complete the work immediately to ensure the resort has a pleasant atmosphere.

Later, Krishna Rao held a review meeting with the officials on the management of the resort and creation of facilities.

Speaking to media, Krishna Rao said the Taramati Baradari was in a prime location but the expected income is not coming even though it was based on a wide area, due to negligence of officials and lack of care about the past. The management of green hotels under the tourism department had become defective due to wrong decisions taken at various levels, he said.

As the model code of conduct (MCC) was in force, he did not conduct a review of the tourism, excise and culture departments. “From now on, we will visit the field regularly. Government institutions will be designed to compete with the private sector," Krishna Rao said.

"We will focus on creating better facilities for tourists and visitors along with increasing government revenue. We design green hotels to provide a pleasant atmosphere. We will take tough decisions from now on. We asked the officials to change the appearance of the resort in three to four months," Krishna Rao said.
