Vizag Marks World Human Rights Day Celebration
Visakhapatnam: The International Association for Religious Freedom (IARF) observed World Human Rights Day on Sunday at the Gandhi Centre Seminar Hall in Vizag. It is to be noted that World Human Rights Day is celebrated on December 10. The event commemorated the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the UN General Assembly in 1948. This year's theme was ‘our rights, our future right now’.
Prof. V. Balamohan Das, former VC of Nagarjuna University and president of the Gandhi Centre; Prof. G. Paddaiah, former AU professor; Dr Jose, chairman of Concern Trust of India; and Dr K.V.S.N. Murthy, joint secretary of the Gandhi Centre participated in the event. They emphasised respecting human rights and the need for individuals to recognise their responsibilities.
Narava Prakasa Rao, chairman of IARF, presided over the meeting. Other participants included Brahmakumari Rameswari, Haragopal, Anitha, and others. The event highlighted the significance of human rights and the essential role of mutual respect in establishing world peace.
