Cyclone Remal alert for West Bengal, Odisha from May 23 to 27
New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said a low pressure area occurred over southwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal
In its bulletin, the IMD said the low pressure area over southwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal has moved northeast wards and west central and moved northeast wards concentrating into a depression over central parts of Bay of Bengal by tomorrow morning. It is likely to move northeastwards, intensity further and reach northeast and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal by Saturday.
Forecasting heavy rainfall, the IMD said light to moderate rainfall might occur at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over North and South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur districts of West Bengal on May 25 and 26 and Balasore district of Odisha during May 25 to 27.
The IMD further stated that light to moderate rainfall may occur at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Mizoram, Tripura and South Manipur tomorrow.
It also issued a weather warning to fishermen asking them not to venture into the central and adjoining south Bay of Bengal from May 23 and into North Bay of Bengal from May 24 onwards till May 26. Fishermen, who are already in sea, are advised to return to the coast.
