N. V. Subhash | Bandi Sanjay achieved a lot in 3 years

Bandi Sanjay was able to bring Central funds to the extent of Rs 5,458 crore for various developmental projects in his constituency

This Wednesday, May 25, marks Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s completion of three years as a Member of Parliament from the Karimnagar Parliamentary constituency.

For a first time member of the Lok Sabha, his term, setting aside the politically motivated criticism of TRS working president and state minister K.T. Rama Rao, his cabinet colleagues, including ministers T. Harish Rao and Gangula Kamalakar, have been stellar by any standards.

The TRS criticism that Bandi Sanjay, who also serves as the president of the Telangana state Bharatiya Janata Party unit, has so far not brought in much development or funds for the development of Karimnagar constituency, is a total lie, as diligently researched facts listed below establish.

Bandi Sanjay, despite the adverse impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the country’s economy and Centre’s financial position in the face of extraordinary responsibilities of combating the pandemic, was able to bring Central funds to the extent of Rs 5,458 crore for various developmental projects in his constituency.

These include projects to lay roads, including those under PM Grameen Sadak Yojana, railway lines and the Smart City project.

Some of the projects for which the BJP MP secured from the Centre for Karimnagar constituency include extension of Warangal-Karimnagar national highway at a cost of Rs 1,900 crore, the Elkaturthy-Siddipet national highway at a cost of Rs 578.85 crore and the Central road infrastructure project for Karimnagar at a cost of Rs 205 crore.

Other funds were allocated for various railway and railway infrastructure development projects, besides employment generation schemes like MGNREGS, and upgrading medical facilities in the constituency.

In addition, Sanjay, to his credit, also achieved 12-B status for the Satavahana University, which was struggling previously due to lack of facilities. His efforts in establishing a Sainik school in Rukmapur and in getting autonomous status for the SRR College have made a big difference for common people.

When India was reeling under the Covid-19 pandemic and a lockdown was imposed, Sanjay led from the front, serving those affected by visiting patients admitted to hospitals and arranged for essential medicines like Remdesivir, supply of PPE kits and other necessary essentials, including oxygen concentrators, which saved thousands of lives.

In addition to offering Rs 50 lakh each from his MP Local Area Development fund to collectors of Siricilla and Karimnagar to help fight Covid, Sanjay motivated BJP volunteers, after providing them with insurance coverage, to serve those in need.

He supported migrants going back to their own states, with adequate provisions of food and temporary shelter, besides offering them financial help for returning later.

When war broke out between Russia and Ukraine, Sanjay took the initiative in ensuring safe return of students belonging to Karimnagar to their homes and kept up the assurance given to their parents. He led the efforts of coordinating with the Centre for the safe return of the children of his constituency, and elsewhere in the state too.

In the past too Sanjay had worked this way, especially to help families of workers in the Gulf countries when their loved ones lost their lives while abroad.
