RTA: Out-of-station cars overstaying must pay tax

Hyderabad: In a new move to curb the movement of vehicles of other states plying in Hyderabad without paying life tax to Telangana, the Road Transport Authority (RTA) officials are going to penalise the owners of such vehicles.

The issue has been raised and given a representation to the authorities on several occasions by the different unions of taxi and cab drivers.

Officials said that as part of the rules, all such vehicles would be impounded and special checkpoints would be set up on busy thoroughfares to monitor such vehicles.

“I request all vehicle owners of other states who are plying in Telangana to pay life tax otherwise the motor vehicle inspectors will seize as per rules,” joint transport commissioner and secretary C. Ramesh said adding that any out of state vehicles plying in the state for over 30 days must pay life tax.
