Hyderabad: Gopalapuram police along with a task force on Sunday arrested two robbers and seized weapons from them. The arrest was made within 48 hours after they snatched a chain and a mobile phone in the city.
The police chased them when they were fleeing after snatching a chain in Gopalapuram. On their way, they snatched away a mobile phone from a pedestrian.
One of the constables chasing them fired at the tyre of the bike the accused were riding. But the bullet missed the target and penetrated one of the accused’s right leg. Since the robbers did not stop, the police fired another round. But the robbers managed to flee. They were later identified and arrested by a special team.
The accused were identified as Masood –Ur- Rahman, 31, and Fazal- Ur –Raheman, 22. During interrogation, Masood revealed he was involved in snatchings at Nacharam, Mailardevpally and two cases in Gopalapuram police station limits.
Masood was previously arrested by Nacharam & Mailardevpally police, Sadhana Rashmi Perumal, DCP task force said.
Police seized two Honda Activa bikes, a dagger, a handgrip and another small dagger and two mobile phones from the accused. The accused along with the seized articles were handed over to Gopalapuram police and later to Chaderghat police for further investigation.
