₹ 39,700 Crores Earmarked for BC Development: Minister Savita
Vijayawada: Minister for BC welfare S. Savita announced that under Chandrababu Naidu's leadership, the government aims to provide employment to 10,000 individuals through the newly introduced Seed app, designed to train youth in industries such as poultry and food processing. She emphasised the commitment to empowering entrepreneurs, particularly women, through free training programmes across the state.
Speaking at a press conference at the Telugu Desam central office in Mangalagiri, Savita praised Naidu as a staunch advocate for the Backward Classes (BCs). She highlighted his efforts to continue Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao's legacy, which significantly uplifted the BC community by establishing federations.
Savita criticised former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for neglecting BC welfare, alleging failures in maintaining hostels for BC students and ineffective governance. She pointed out that while Jagan created corporations, they lacked basic amenities. In contrast, she praised Naidu’s administration for promptly allocating funds and duties to ensure their functionality.
She accused Jagan's government of reducing BC reservations in nominated positions from 34% to 24%, undermining their political and economic growth. Savita commended the NDA government for earmarking ₹ 39,700 crores for BC welfare, supporting educational and economic advancements.
She also revealed plans to address the neglect of BC hostels during Jagan’s tenure and highlighted achievements such as the establishment of 107 schools for students from weaker sections under the Telugu Desam government.
