11-Year-Old Boy Electrocuted in Kadapa

Anantapur: A 11-year-old boy was electrocuted to death, while another boy is battling for his life after coming into contact with a live wire that fell onto the road in Kadapa town on Wednesday.

Sources indicate that Tanveer, 11, and Adam, 10, both students of a private school on Agadi Street in Kadapa, were on their way back to school on a bicycle after their lunch break. They failed to notice a live electric wire lying across the road and attempted to cross it. When the bicycle made contact with the live wire, both boys suffered severe electric shocks.

Nearby residents rushed to the scene and quickly transported the children to a nearby private hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared Tanveer dead on arrival, while Adam, 10, sustained over 50 per cent burn injuries.

Locals protested against the negligence of the electricity department, highlighting that the live wire had fallen on a main road during broad daylight. The wire reportedly fell when local dish cable workers neglected proper maintenance of cables attached to electricity poles. Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy consoled the victims' families.

Education minister Nara Lokesh expressed shock at the incident, condemning the failure of safety measures and directing the electricity department to ensure such incidents do not recur. He also instructed Kadapa district authorities to provide necessary treatment for Adam. The Kadapa police have registered a case based on a complaint from the parents.
