The subsidy amount will be credited to the pilgrims’ accounts after their return.

Nellore: As many as 160 pilgrims from Nellore district will undertake Haj this year, with trolley suitcases and medical kits distributed to them at Jamia Noorul Huda Arabic College on Tuesday.

AP Waqf Board chairman Abdul Azeez said the state government had made elaborate arrangements, including training programmes, medical camps and vaccination drives in every district to ensure the safety and preparedness of pilgrims.

He said Andhra Pradesh had announced a subsidy of ₹1 lakh for Haj pilgrims, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu extending support to devotees undertaking the sacred journey. The subsidy amount will be credited to the pilgrims’ accounts after their return.

Overall, 1,985 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh will undertake the pilgrimage, with the government distributing travel kits to all participants. The state is also deploying 13 Haj inspectors as volunteers to assist pilgrims during the journey.

Highlighting improved connectivity, Abdul Azeez said a direct flight from Vijayawada to Saudi Arabia had been arranged. Around 335 pilgrims are travelling via Vijayawada.

Special Haj camps with accommodation, food and parking facilities have been set up at Vijayawada airport for pilgrims and their families. Officials said the initiatives reflected the state’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and comfortable Haj pilgrimage.
