4 teams formed to arrest girl’s murderer in Koppu Gunda Palem case

Visakhapatnam: The case of murder of a minor girl in Rambilli mandal’s Koppu Gunda Palem area has turned complicated as the accused Suresh’s whereabouts are not known.

“Suresh’s mobile phone location could not be tracked by the police. Hence, his arrest has become difficult. We are keeping a watch on the railway stations and bus stations,” DSP Satyanarayana told Deccan Chronicle.

Four police teams have been deployed to search and arrest the accused.

Notably, the first case in this respect was booked two months ago, when the 26-year-old Suresh and the girl confessed that they had a consensual relationship. However, the girl also stated she wanted to break away from him.

“Suresh got angry over this and he targeted her. She was murdered in Rambilli mandal, Anakapalli district,” police said.

The girl had sought help from her family and the police. Despite this, Suresh was released on bail in a case of harassment of the girl and he took her life at her hometown, Koppu Gunda Palem, officials said.

The FIR noted that the ninth-grade girl resided with her family in Koppu Gundu Palem. On the day of the murder on Saturday, she returned from school and took the key of her house from her grandmother, Kanthamma, who stayed a little away. Her parents were away at work.

A while later, Kanthamma arrived at the girl's house. She found the door closed. She knocked on the door, but there was no response from inside. She raised her voice. Suresh opened the door, pushed Kanthamma aside and ran away. When she went inside, the girl was lying dead in a pool of blood, the FIR stated.

Kanthamma stated in the FIR that Suresh killed her granddaughter. Villagers said Suresh was residing with his grandparents as his parents had passed away.

Home minister Vangalapudi Anita said she would hold discussions with chief minister Chandrababu Naidu to ensure that the family received justice. Action would be taken against police officials if there was any negligence in the investigation, she has warned.

She got in touch with Anakapalle SP and asked him to have a thorough investigation and expeditious arrest of the culprit.
