8 die in two separate road accidents on highways in AP
Krishna/Tirupati: Eight persons died in separate road accidents that took place in Chandragiri in Tirupati and Bapulapadu in Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh on Monday morning.
In the first incident, four persons died on the spot while two others suffered injuries when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a central median on Poothalapatu and Naidupeta highway in M Kondavaripalli mandal in Chandragiri early on Monday.
The accident occurred when the car was heading towards Vellore from Nellore, according to police. In the second incident, four persons died after the car in which they were traveling first rammed into a road divider before hitting a lorry on Chennai-Kolkata highway at Bapulapadu in Krishna district today morning. The accident happened when the car was going to Tamil Nadu from Kovvur.
The four deceased have been identified as Swaminathan, Rakesh, Radhapriya and Gopi. One more person, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to a hospital in Vijayawada, the police said.
Responding to two major accidents, former Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the incidents and requested the State government to ensure proper treatment to the injured.
