Vijayawada: The Chillakallu police seized 80 kg of ganja and a four-wheeler that was used to smuggle the contraband in Gowravaram village of Jaggayyapet mandal in the NTR district on Tuesday.
According to police, around 1.30 pm on Tuesday, a four-wheeler bearing registration number MH 12 FP 0384 made a U-turn upon sighting the police at the Chillakallu toll plaza and sped away towards Gowravaram village. The police personnel conducting vehicle checks at the toll plaza chased the vehicle and seized it in agricultural fields at Gowravaram village, where it had been abandoned by the driver.
The police found 80 kg ganja in a bag, and seized the contraband before shifting the car to the police station. A case has been registered and a probe is underway.
