92,250 to appear for APPSC Group-2 main exam on Sunday

The chief secretary asked officials to take strict action against those who circulate fake news or spread rumours with regard to the APPSC exams on social media.

Vijayawada: Chief secretary K. Vijayanand on Thursday announced that 92,250 candidates will appear for the APPSC Group-2 main examination scheduled on Sunday, February 23.

The CS reviewed with APPSC chairperson A. Anuradha and other officials the arrangements being made for conducting the exams at 175 examination centres in the erstwhile 13 district headquarters of Andhra Pradesh. He directed collectors and SPs to make necessary arrangements to ensure that the exams are conducted smoothly, particularly at the exam centres identified as sensitive.

The APPSC chairperson pointed out that the written examination for Paper 1 will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Candidates should reach their respective exam centres by 9:30 a.m. Gates of the examination centres will be closed at 9:45 a.m. No one who comes thereafter will be allowed to enter under any circumstances.
Similarly, Paper 2 exam will be held from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates should reach the respective examination centres by 2:30 p.m. Gates of the exam centres will be closed at 2:45 p.m. No candidate will be allowed to enter thereafter whatever the circumstances.
Anuradha said a booklet with detailed instructions has been sent to all examination centres. All liaison officers, chief superintendents and invigilators have been asked to strictly follow the instructions given in the booklet and ensure that the exams are conducted smoothly.
The APPSC chairperson asked candidates not to believe in any misinformation on social media, like the Group-2 main examinations have been postponed. She said Section 144 will be imposed within 100 metres of the exam centres. All Xerox and internet outlets near the exam centres will remain closed during the exams. Mobile phones, electronic watches and other devices will not be allowed into the examination hall.
Those present at the meeting include principal secretary (GAD) Mukesh Kumar Meena, secretary (Education) K. Shashidhar, department commissioner Kritika Shukla, information director Himanshu Shukla and APPSC secretary I.N. Murthy. District collectors, commissioners of police and SPs participated in the meeting virtually.
