Visakhapatnam: The much-awaited 9th edition of the Vizag Navy Marathon (VNM) is revving up for a December 15, 2024 debut. This premier event, a highlight of the city’s Navy Day festivities, promises an unforgettable experience for fitness enthusiasts of all levels. More than just a race, the VNM offers a chance to explore the captivating landscapes of Visakhapatnam while competing in a world-class marathon.
Residents can lace up their shoes and register online starting August 15th through the sleek, newly launched website: www.vizagnavymarathon.run.
At a recent press conference, the VNM team unveiled the revamped website and registration details. Cmde Pradeep Patel, Commanding Officer of INS Kalinga and VNM race organiser, extended a warm welcome to all citizens, encouraging mass participation.

To help runners prepare, the VNM team is organising monthly promo runs and conditioning programmes on the first Sunday at Dolphin Hill and RK Beach.Whether you’re a seasoned marathoner or a casual jogger, the VNM caters to all.
Choose your challenge from four distinct race categories: 42K, 21K, 10K, and 5K. The race route, boasting accreditation by the Association of International Marathons, was also revealed at the briefing. Winners across categories will vie for a total prize pool of approximately Rs 10 lakh.
Special registration fee reductions for Visakhapatnam residents add to the excitement, along with upgraded features like goodie bags packed with refreshing snacks, free T-shirts, participation certificates, and exciting lucky draw entries.The Black Buck, the official mascot for the 9th VNM, symbolises the enduring connection between the Indian Navy and Andhra Pradesh.
This majestic state animal also adorns the crest of INS Visakhapatnam. Furthermore, the event champions environmental consciousness, promoting the government’s Reduce-Reuse-Recycle policy and aiming for a plastic-free race.
